What the Cana Bay Beach Club actually is
Cana Bay is a gated residential and golf community next to Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana, built around theHard Rock Golf Club. The Beach Club is its one place on the sea. Cana Bay describes it as the “social center” of the resort: roughly 11,000 m² with an infinity pool, a panoramic terrace, an events room and a private stretch of beach.
In practice it feels like a small, calm resort pool deck that happens to sit on the sand. Thatched palapa roofs shade the restaurant and lounge areas, blue loungers line the pool and the beach, and the soundtrack is waves rather than a pool DJ. It is operated by Cana Bay Hotels as a private club, separate from both Hard Rock and the residential buildings.
Who can get in
This is the part most visitors get wrong, because the club is private but not members-only. There are three ways in:
- Members. Cana Bay owners can buy annual memberships for their household (Cana Bay’s FAQ lists US$500 per adult aged 24 and over, less for younger family members, up to five per unit).
- Owners without a membership pay a daily minimum spend instead.
- Visitors and tenants, which includes guests renting an apartment in Cana Bay, use aconsumable day pass.
If you are renting in Cana Bay, there is one step before you even reach the club: the main gate. Cana Bay requires hosts to register vacation-rental guests with security in advance, with a copy of each adult’s ID and the reservation. Once you are on the list, you enter through the main gate. Carry ID when you walk over to the club as well; staff can ask for it.
Tip: send your host your passport details as soon as you book. Gate registration is the one thing that can’t be sorted out on the spot.
What it costs, and why “$35” is less than it sounds
The number that trips people up is the US$35. It is not an entry fee on top of your bill. It’s a minimum spend: you pay it, and it is credited to whatever you order at the club, whether that’s lunch, a couple of drinks or fresh juice. If two of you would have lunch and a drink anyway, the pass costs you close to nothing extra.

The rates don’t agree perfectly, and that’s normal: the club sets them and changes them by season and day of the week. Treat US$35 as the realistic maximum per adult, and ask at the entrance which rate applies.
The house rules
- No outside food or drinks. Leave the cooler in the apartment.
- No personal music or speakers. The quiet is part of the appeal.
- Dogs up to 10 kg (22 lb) are welcome on a leash, but not in the pool or restaurant area.
- ID on you. Cana Bay staff can ask anyone in the resort for identification.

How to spend a good day there
Morning: come early
The club opens at 9:00. The first hours are the calmest: the light on the water is at its best, the sea is often flatter before the afternoon trade winds pick up, and you can choose a lounger with shade. Weekend rates are higher (see the table above), a good hint that Saturdays and Sundays are the busy days.
Midday: use your credit on lunch
Plan your consumable credit around lunch rather than snacks. The club’s restaurant and bar sit under the palapa roofs, and a proper meal plus drinks uses the credit well. If you have kids, their lower pass also goes toward food.
Afternoon: the infinity pool
Once the sun is high, the infinity pool is the easier swim. On the Atlantic side of Punta Cana the sea can get choppy on windy afternoons, and the pool gives you the same view without the waves. Keep an eye on the time: everything closes at 6:00 pm.
What to bring
- Reef-safe sunscreen and a hat; shade is good but the sun is strong year-round
- A card and some cash for anything above your credit
- Your ID (and your host’s gate confirmation if you’re new)

It is a private club for members, Cana Bay owners and their guests and tenants. Visitors staying in Cana Bay can enter by paying a consumable day pass that is credited to food and drinks. Walk-in access from outside Cana Bay depends on the club’s current policy, so check before you go.
How much does the Cana Bay Beach Club cost?
Cana Bay’s published guides list a consumable pass of US$35 per person per day for visitors and tenants (and for owners without a membership), plus US$10 for children aged 4 to 12.
